AhaPower uses PayFast as its online payment gateway to provide customers with a convenient and secure way to pay for online orders.

Secure online payments through PayFast

When you select a PayFast-supported payment method at checkout, your payment is processed through PayFast’s payment environment. PayFast applies its own transaction-security, verification and fraud-prevention controls.

AhaPower generally receives only the information needed to identify and manage the transaction, such as:

  • The transaction reference;
  • The payment amount;
  • The payment date and status;
  • The payment method category; and
  • Information required to match the payment to your order.

AhaPower does not intend to collect or store your complete card number, card verification code, online-banking password or banking login credentials through its ordinary checkout process.

How the PayFast payment process works

  1. Add the required products to your cart and proceed to checkout.
  2. Confirm your order, billing and delivery information.
  3. Select an available PayFast payment option.
  4. Complete the payment in the PayFast payment environment.
  5. Return to AhaPower after the payment attempt.
  6. AhaPower verifies the transaction notification before processing the order.

A payment-success screen, email, SMS or proof-of-payment message does not by itself confirm that AhaPower has received cleared and verified payment. We may wait for a valid confirmation from PayFast and perform reasonable fraud checks before accepting or dispatching an order.

PayFast security and privacy

PayFast states that it uses industry-standard security practices and independently validated controls, including applicable PCI DSS and ISO 27001 measures, to protect information processed through its services.

PayFast processes payment information under its own terms, privacy obligations and regulatory requirements. Depending on the transaction, PayFast may share relevant information with financial institutions, payment networks, fraud-prevention providers, contracted service providers or authorities where legally required.

Payment verification and fraud prevention

AhaPower or PayFast may request additional verification where a transaction appears unusual, inconsistent or potentially unauthorised. An order may be placed on hold while verification is completed.

AhaPower may decline or cancel a transaction where there are reasonable grounds to suspect fraud, unlawful activity, an unauthorised payment or an error. If a cancelled order was validly paid, any amount due will be refunded in accordance with applicable law and AhaPower’s policies.

Failed, cancelled or pending payments

A payment may be declined, cancelled or delayed by PayFast, the customer’s bank, card issuer, payment network or another payment provider. AhaPower does not control those independent authorisation decisions.

If your payment appears unsuccessful or remains pending:

  • Do not repeatedly submit payment unless you have confirmed that the first attempt failed.
  • Check your email and bank or payment account for a transaction record.
  • Contact AhaPower with your order number and PayFast transaction reference.
  • Do not send card details, passwords, PINs or one-time passwords to AhaPower.

If you believe that you were charged more than once, contact AhaPower so that the transactions can be investigated.

Protect yourself from payment fraud

  • Access AhaPower by typing ahapower.co.za into your browser or using a trusted bookmark.
  • Check that the checkout page uses HTTPS and that the website address is correct.
  • Never disclose your password, PIN, card verification code or one-time password to AhaPower.
  • Do not make payment through a link or banking detail received from an unverified sender.
  • Be cautious of urgent messages requesting another payment to release a delivery.
  • Contact AhaPower using the details published on this website if anything appears suspicious.

AhaPower will never ask you to provide an online-banking password, card PIN or one-time password by email, telephone, WhatsApp or social media.

EFT payment option

Customers may also pay by direct electronic funds transfer (“EFT”) into the AhaPower bank account stated on an official quotation, invoice or checkout instruction.

EFT payments may take up to three additional business days to reflect in AhaPower’s bank account. Orders paid by EFT will ordinarily be processed only after the funds have cleared and been verified.

A proof-of-payment document assists with matching a transaction but is not final proof that cleared funds have been received. Use the order or invoice number as the payment reference.

If banking details in a message differ from those previously provided, do not make payment until you have confirmed the details by calling AhaPower on a telephone number published on this website.

Refunds

An approved refund will ordinarily be returned through the original payment method unless another method is lawfully required or agreed. PayFast, banks and payment providers may require additional processing time after AhaPower releases a refund.

Refund eligibility is governed by AhaPower’s Delivery and Returns Policy, Terms and Conditions and applicable South African law.

Personal information

Payment and transaction information is processed as described in AhaPower’s Privacy Policy. Personal information may be shared with PayFast, banks, financial institutions, fraud-prevention providers or regulators where necessary to process a transaction, prevent fraud, resolve a dispute or comply with law.
